Cave Hill School of Business Offers Input on SMEs

The Cave Hill School of Business (CHSB) at the University of the West Indies has lined up a team of experts who are fully aware of what Barbadian entrepreneurs require to grow their exports.

Bryan Toppin, Programme Manager of the CHSB, made the comment while discussing the input of the CHSB in a programme aimed at preparing some Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs) on how to improve their exports.

“We have two persons for the programme, who have worked with the BIDC before, Dr. Paul Pounder and Dr. Alfred Watts,” he said.  Toppin stated that both individuals, who are consultants, have a very good knowledge of the market.

Noting that this is not about theory, Toppin said this is hands-on,  since both “individuals are aware of the market, they have been well entrenched here in Barbados  for many years and they understand what participants will need in designing and developing an export marketing plan that will help them and be a launch pad”.

He said that because the programme will be free to those entrepreneurs participating, it will be a saving to them.  According to him, “They will be saving thousands of dollars to be a part of this programme and that is not something we should neglect to mention.”

He added that with the generosity of South Korea through the Inter –American Investment Corporation and working with our partners here, it is a fantastic opportunity that these participants have to move forward.
